Philanthropy
One of the most important aspects to being a member of Alpha Phi is having the opportunity to give back to the community. As a chapter, we place a strong emphasis on philanthropy & service. Whether it is hosting our own philanthropy events such as Red Dress Gala and Alpha Phi Heartthrob, or volunteering at a local food bank, we always strive our hardest to give back to the community, as well as support a variety of important causes.
Red Dress GALA
Red Dress Gala is our main philanthropy event which takes place at a local hotel during Family Weekend in the fall. It has a casino style feel and includes a cocktail reception, gambling, dinner, a silent & live auction, and a presentation for both our senior and new member classes performed in front of our beloved families.
All Alpha Phis wear a red dress in honor of spreading awareness for the research and treatment of heart disease. All of the proceeds raised from this event are donated directly to the Alpha Phi Foundation, which supports Women's Heart Health within the American Heart Association, as well as Alpha Phi women all over the nation. This night allows us to take pride in Alpha Phi and share our philanthropic values with all of our family and friends.
Congratulations to our 2022
Heartthrobs, Cam Morrison and Jackson Byrne!
Heartthrob is our extremely fun philanthropy held every fall semester. It is where individuals from different organizations at the U of A can compete to win the title of Alpha Phi Heartthrob. Many of the contestants running to be our Heartthrob are from all different organizations whether it be Greek life, the athletic department, or one of the business fraternities. For an entire week, Heartthrob contestants participate in fun events with the members of Alpha Phi including a scavenger hunt, an Instagram competition, Eat Your Heart Out (a wing eating competition), and more all to work towards one cause - raise money for our Philanthropy, Women’s Heart Health! At the end of the week, the Heartthrob final event brings in a huge amount of support from all over campus. This final night, with the support of their organizations and the members of Alpha Phi, the contestant with the most merit is chosen to be our Alpha Phi Heartthrob for a whole year! The individuals who participate in Heartthrob not only get to know our sisters, but also make friends with all of the other contestants as well. We look forward to this week every year! All of the money raised goes directly to the Alpha Phi Foundation, providing for research and donations for Women's Heart Health and the American Heart Association.

Sweethearts WEEK
We celebrate Sweethearts Week every year in February, which of course takes place near Valentine's Day. This week is dedicated to raising awareness about cardiac care. Our sisters and other organizations participate in this week's activities that include Alpha Phifa (a soccer tournament), Pie-a-Phi (where you can donate to pie an Alpha Phi member in the face), Grilled Cheese with Alpha Phis (grilled cheese night at Alpha Phi), and more.
Community Service
Arizona Alpha Phi takes a lot of pride in all of the community service work we participate in. Every semester, each member completes 8 hours of community service of their choice. Some examples of the community service projects that we have participated in are: Chapel Haven, Primavera Tucson, Aviva Children's Services, Casa de Los Niños, University of Arizona Campus Closet/Pantry, The Ronald McDonald House, Ben's Bells, Take Back the Night, Rattle Snake Ridge Fall Carnival, Greek-or-Treat, and Tucson Autism Society Piece of the Puzzle Walk. These are just a few of the many organizations that we volunteer for throughout the Tucson community!
Greek Philanthropies
Alpha Phi believes that it is just as important to participate in other houses' philanthropies as it is for our own! As a Greek community, we can make such a difference. We are overwhelmingly proud to say our chapter has participated and won several Greek campus philanthropies! competitions every year.
